Exchange with QMSGSA Schools One Student's Australian Adventure....
"Before the exchange program began, I shared the stereotypical worldwide view of Australia, or as Americans refer to it, the "Land Down Under." I assumed I would be put out in some bleak desert going to school with constant appearances of kangaroos and snakes….During my school breaks, I traveled with my host family around southern Australia.
During this time, I did everything from visiting the grand opera house in Sydney to climbing the highest mountain in Australia, Mt. Kosciusko. The land and wildlife were much different from my American home, making the experience even more enjoyable….Traveling abroad helped me break through barriers. I was placed in a completely new environment with all new people. I had no choice but to adjust and become comfortable with the setting around me. By adjusting and adapting to my situation in Australia, I also became more of an individual. I returned to America with a different attitude….After I returned from the "Land Down Under," I decided that this is only the beginning of my adventures in the outside world."Britton Faulkner '01 |
