We’re glad you’re interested in applying to St. Margaret’s! We welcome applications from girls who want to stretch academically, grow personally, and make a positive contribution to our community and the world.

While our admission process is rolling, we can only accommodate a certain number of students in each grade. We encourage you to apply promptly by following these steps:

1) Call the Admission Office to request an application. You also may download application forms or use the Common Application from The Association of Boarding Schools.

2) Send the Admission Office your completed application with a check or money order for the application fee ($40 for American students/$100 for international students).

3) Give your current school a signed transcript release form and ask that they send an official transcript directly to St. Margaret’s.

4) Distribute the Math and English teacher recommendation forms and the personal recommendation form, and ask your references to return them directly to St. Margaret’s.

5) If you are an American applicant for grades 8-10, register to take the SSAT. For dates and test locations, visit the SSAT web site. St. Margaret’s SSAT school code is 6724. American applicants for grades 11-12 may substitute PSAT or SAT scores for the SSAT. Students for whom English is a second language may take the TOEFL or SLEP test in place of the SSAT.

6) Schedule a campus visit and personal interview. Campus visits may be scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Please allow two hours. Or RSVP for an on-campus admission event and make an appointment to be interviewed at the same time.

7) You also should apply for need-based financial aid at this time if you believe you may qualify.

The Admission Committee will review your file as soon as it is complete. In order to make an admission decision that is best for you and for the school, the committee will consider your past academic performance, recognized potential, standardized and admission test results, teacher recommendations, extracurricular activities, special talents and what we have learned about you in your interview. Accepted students have two weeks to sign the enrollment agreement and submit their tuition deposit.

Please contact the SMS Admission Office at any point in this process if you have questions, need assistance or would like more information. We look forward to working with you and your family
