Artists in Residence

Artist-in-Residence Program Thanks to St. Margaret's Artist-in-Residence Program, students have the opportunity to study with working professionals and learn creative theories and skill they might not otherwise be exposed to until college. Resident artists spend a year living and working at school, teaching both in the established art curriculum and within their area of specialty. They also lead the after-school art activity, offer classes to adults in the local community and work with SMS students to create a permanent work of art collection for the school to enjoy. Since the program was established in 2001-2002, a ceramicist, photographer and two painters have shared their talents with our students.

"They're different from most art teachers. Instead of insisting that your art follow rules or that it look a certain way, they help you pursue your own ideas, to find yourself in your art."

-- Lindsay Swinson '04
