Jane Schwenck '47: A Truly Transformative Gift

Rarely on Commencement Day, can we predict the impact our alumnae will have on the future of our school. We look at each new graduate knowing the promise we’ve seen and encouraged, yet we cannot know what her life will hold nor what her memories will inspire.

Recently, Jane Schwenck '47 honored us with the second largest bequest in the history of the school. Her unrestricted gift of $386,000 will provide significant support to the strategic goals of our school. We accept this gift with joy and deep appreciation and hope it will inspire others to include
St. Margaret’s in their gift planning.

According to her executor and cousin, Janet Whitehead, Jane loved her St. Margaret’s years and would have embraced the diversity we’ve deliberately brought to our school community as both necessary and enriching. A lifelong Episcopalian and Annual Fund donor, Jane was generous to many causes and made all of her planned gifts to Episcopal entities.
