Mariana Secades has a lot to smile about. First, she beat out 32 other golfers at the League of Independent Schools tournament on May 3, placing first place over all.
The LIS Tournament is the only tournament that includes an individual division. All others base their scores on the team's total. During the LIS Tournament, Secades managed to score a phenomenal 43 strokes in nine holes.
Then, during this year's Spring Family Weekend Parent/Daughter 9 Hole Tournament, she accomplished what most golfers only dream about--a hole in one! The tournament was played as Captain's Choice and Secades was partnered up with Golf Coach June Baird. Their overall score was 32, and Secades shot her hole in one on the second hole.
"She knows how to play what we call management golf," Baird says. "When she looks at the course, she automatically knows how to play it. She is amazing to watch."
This latest string of successes is just a continuation of the Secades' outstanding season. Baird says that in looking at the entire season, Secades has won every match she played in.
