The library at St. Margaret's School provides an environment where students can develop the information literacy, critical thinking, and research skills they need in high school and college. The library also seeks to plant and nurture in each student a love of reading that will last a lifetime.
The librarian integrates the library with the curriculum by facilitating the research needs of students and faculty. This goal is accomplished primarily through individualized instruction and class visits to the library, and by providing online access to the library catalog, databases, and other electronic resources.
The Reading Room is located adjacent to the library and is used for both day and night study hall. It is conveniently located so that students may have access to the library during study hall periods.
Our library collection contains approximately 10,000 books, 500 audiovisual media, and additional materials such as microfiche, sound recordings, and maps. The library subscribes to approximately fifty periodicals and eight electronic database packages per year. The librarian regularly solicits input from both teachers and students when making purchases of library materials.
