Tuition & Financial Aid
Tuition for 2015-2016, excluding charges for books, supplies, tutoring, weekend activities, uniforms, and allowance, is as follows:
As a school founded by the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia for "girls of character and ability," an important part of our mission is to ensure that students who meet our admission criteria have access to the educational opportunities we provide. To help families afford a St. Margaret’s education, we offer a variety of payment plans, access to loan information, and need-based financial aid.
How Need is Determined
Families complete a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) with the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS), a division of the National Association of Independent Schools. Based on financial information provided by a family, SSS calculates funds a family should have available for educational expenses. Using this information, the school determines the amount of financial aid that can be offered. St. Margaret's attempts to meet a portion of the tuition expense with its available resources. Awards are made annually, and families must complete a PFS each year in order to be considered for financial aid. In cases of divorce or separation, both custodial and non-custodial parents are required to submit forms.
If you believe your family may qualify for financial aid, please follow these steps to apply:
1. After November 2, go to http://sss.force.com/familyportal.
2. Click on the prompt to begin your Parents' Financial Statement (PFS). You only have to complete one PFS for all children applying to our school and for all schools to which you are applying for financial aid. St. Margaret's School's Code is 6724. Be sure to list our school code so that we will have access to your application.
3. Please send electronically, or by mail, a copy of this current year's tax returns with all applicable schedules, and the same for the previous year, unless we received the previous year's tax documentation in last year's application process.
