Here at St. Margaret’s School our philosophy of Believe. Become. Belong applies to our students both in the classroom as well as on the court or field. We believe that mental and physical competition not only pushes our limits to the top, but also teaches life lessons in team work, work ethic and competitive grace. We achieve this by personal one on one encouragement and coaching.
Our coaching staff provides this personal attention at all levels to facilitate these lifelong lessons that separate our girls from many others.
St. Margaret’s offers 12 teams and over 20 coaches for grades 8 through 12. All our teams compete in the League of Independent Schools (LIS) along with ten other independent schools. All our coaches have completed the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course and are certified in Heartsaver First Aid by the American Heart Association, as well as Medication Administrative Training.
In addition to our sport programs provided, St. Margaret’s provides an after-school physical education program that educates students on the rules and skills associated with the sports offered.
Sportsmanship, school spirit, and teamwork are the foundation of our program. It’s a tradition at St. Margaret’s School to facilitate these skills in all that we do. Every student is placed on either a BLUE or GREY intramural team that competes in both academic and athletic contests throughout the year. At graduation, plaques are given to the winning team and recorded on our official BLUE/GREY plaque in our trophy case. This not only fosters appropriate competitive school spirit, but also allows the girls to lay their own paw print on St. Margaret’s School for years to come.
