Get Off to a Great Start on Opening Day

Whether you are dropping off your daughter at St. Margaret’s for the first time or you are returning for the fifth year in a row, the start of school is always an exciting time for both parents and students.

“The opening of school is the perfect time for parents to connect with administrators, teachers, advisors, and other parents,” said Assistant Head for External Affairs and Director of Admission, Kim McDowell. “All of these people can help you get the most out of your St. Margaret’s experience.”

Here are some additional tips to help you get off to a great start on opening day:

Arrive on time. Registering during the appointed hours will allow plenty of time for you and your daughter to enjoy all of the important activities planned for you.

Take advantage of resources. Student leaders will be available to help you find your daughter’s dorm room and unpack your car. You may also ease your packing load by picking up new items offered at the Parent Council’s dorm decor sale.

Know the rules. Knowing what is expected of your daughter will help her begin the school year with ease. Student and parent handbooks that were mailed in early August are an invaluable resource for answering many of your back-to-school questions.

Leave as scheduled. While it may be difficult for you to say goodbye to your daughter, departing at the scheduled time will make it easier for her to adjust to her new surroundings.

Finally, remember to finish summer reading, order and try on uniforms, and order textbooks using our online virtual book store located at bookstore.mbsdirect.net/sms.htm
