Under the direction of Joni Lawler P’09, the 2007-08 Parent Council is making a tremendous impact around campus and having some fun along the way.
During the Fall Family Weekend all-school meeting, the Council announced the initiatives it will support through fund-raising efforts this year. These include a $250 grant for chapel flowers, a $600 grant to purchase 6 bicycles (2 for each dorm) for students to use on campus, and a $1,000 grant for improvements to the day student area of the student-faculty center.
The group also approved a grant of $1,200 for lapel microphones that will be used during school performances, Joni said.
The council hosted a successful silent auction during the weekend, raising more than $3,000. The “Wear Your Class Colors” competition was wildly successful and won the sophomore class a pizza party for highest participation. Parents in this class also received a free adopt-a-duck that will race in the first-ever Rubber Ducky Derby during Spring Family Weekend.
