New Faces - Welcome to St. Margaret’s

This month we are delighted to welcome three new full-time staff members to St. Margaret’s. Although it is unusual to add personnel mid-year, we are delighted at the reasons they have joined us. One filled a vacant position in our development office, which we had held open until we found just the right candidate, and two are supporting the total boarding school program during the maternity leaves of Renee Russell (Marketing/Communications), Carly Marston (School Nurse), and Maren LaLiberty (Teacher and Coach). Lois Spencer and Blair Blanks, both former St. Margaret’s nurses, will also be with us part-time in January and February.

Mavora Monk Donoghue has been appointed Director of Alumnae Relations. She is a graduate of The University of the South and The University of Richmond School of Law. In her new role, Mrs. Donoghue will focus on connecting with St. Margaret’s alumnae and securing financial support for the school through outright and planned gifts. A native of St. Stephen’s Church, she and her husband Vince will reside on campus in Pettigrew Hall.

Ashley Swandby is a 2007 graduate of Longwood University with a B. S. in mathematics. Her experience in the Longwood University Learning Center will assist her in her transition to our math lab. She has already begun working with Mrs. LaLiberty in preparation for taking over her geometry classes during the third trimester. Her work as a peer leader in the residential life program at Georgia Tech her sophomore year gives her valuable insights as a member of our weekend team. Ms. Swanby lives on campus in Pettigrew Hall.

Molly McNamara, a 2007 graduate of Virginia Tech, will provide strong support to our residential life and co-curricular programs. She is living on the first floor of Latane Hall and working as both a dormitory counselor and a weekend team member. She is also assisting in the writing lab and observing classes in preparation for her career as a teacher. With her degree in political science, participation in team sports, and experience in student government and tutoring, Ms. McNamara brings energy and interest to this position.
