Study Shows High Satisfaction with Girls’ Schools

According to a recent study by the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools, enrollment in girls’ schools has increased by 3.7% over the last three years. Combined with a 97.3% retention rate, parent and student satisfaction with their girls’ boarding school experience is evident. The St. Margaret’s School community is a perfect example of this trend, boasting a 95% retention rate last year.

So, why do SMS parents and students choose to re-enroll year after year? One reason is the transformative power this community has on each of our students’ lives.

Take, for example, Brittany McPherson who came to St. Margaret’s as a freshman and saw immediate changes in many ways. “St. Margaret’s has greatly influenced my academic and athletic life,” she said. “Before coming to SMS I never played a sport or belonged to a team.”

Now, a member of the softball and novice crew teams, a Student Ambassador, and Desk Aide, Brittany sees her time at St. Margaret’s as life-changing. “It’s amazing to look back on my life and see how much I’ve accomplished here.”

Brittany’s mother agrees. “Although Brittany has always been very well-behaved, she was often shy and reserved. St. Margaret’s has brought out the best in her; in other words, she has found her voice.

“I re-enrolled Brittany for the second time, because she is growing academically, socially, and spiritually. Honesty, integrity, and commitment have always been hallmarks in my parenting of Britt. The school’s philosophy in those areas mirrors mine, and so St. Margaret’s is the perfect fit.”
