Catch the Holiday Spirit With SMS Singers
Tappahannock, VA (December 10, 2001) - St. Margaret's School choral groups are spreading holiday cheer this season, and you're invited to join them. "Concerts are a great way for us to give back to the community," said Music Director Beverley Gordon. "Attendees can enjoy their favorite seasonal music, while our students gain valuable experience in front of an audience."
The St. Margaret's School Vocal Ensemble kicked off a busy holiday concert season with a performance at the St. John's Church Santa Lunch on December 8.
The SMS singers are in demand-they were the first school group invited to perform this year at the Governor's Mansion Open House on December 15. It marks the third year that St. Margaret's choirs have been invited to sing at the Richmond event, which draws thousands of visitors from across the state.
Closer to home, the SMS Vocal Ensemble and Treble Choir will present a Christmas concert at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16 at Beale Memorial Baptist Church in Tappahannock. Works will span the holiday spectrum from medieval to modern, ranging from a cappella madrigals to Amy Grant. The concert is free and open to the public. Both groups also will be performing at the Advent Service of Lessons and Carols at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Tappahannock.
