They were among the school's student-athletes who received awards at the winter sports banquet on March 21.
Two student-athletes won spots on the League of Independent Schools' all-league soccer team. Sophomores Catherine Chilton of Lancaster and Jessi Rhodes of Southern Shores, NC, were selected for the honor by coaches at other LIS schools. In addition, each of the SMS teams and coaches conferred awards. Freshman Allison Ryan of Tappahannock was named most improved varsity basketball player and freshman Ali McKeon of Urbanna was named most valuable JV basketball player. Lindsay Neist of Howertons received a senior award for four years of varsity basketball. Members of the varsity soccer team chose Sophomore Neillee Katona of Dunnsville as most improved player, Chilton as most valuable offensive player and Sophomore Palmer Ware of Dunnsville as most valuable defensive player. Ann Kramer Osburn of Tappahannock received a senior award for four years of varsity soccer. Boarding students who earned sports recognition are Brittany Alexander of Temple Hills, MD, varsity basketball coach's award; Vera Attaway of Raleigh, NC, JV soccer coach's award; Jackie Brunk of Greenwood Village, CO, most improved swimmer; Erin Dall-Silver of Arlington, varsity basketball high scorer and most valuable player; Alle Davis of Chestertown, MD, swim coach's award; Chelsea McDowell of Lexington, KY, most valuable swimmer; Evita Moody of Washington, DC, varsity basketball coach's award; Catherine Norris of Washington, DC, JV basketball high scorer; Fola Ogundiran of Bowie, MD, senior award for three years of varsity basketball; Kelly Reily of New Orleans, LA, varsity soccer coach's award; Stef Rosen of Woodbridge, most improved JV basketball player; Regina Saravia of Mexico City, JV basketball coach's award; Brooke Shafer of Fredericksburg, most valuable JV soccer player; Eileen Tsai of Taiwan, most improved JV soccer player. St. Margaret's is fielding spring sports teams in crew, lacrosse, softball and tennis. Crew, coached by Skye Elliot, has a regatta with James River High School on Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at Robious Landing Park in Richmond. The lacrosse Scotties, coached by Cupper Dickinson, play at home on Friday, April 11 against Virginia Episcopal School. Sue Saunders coaches varsity softball, which has its next home game on April 11 versus St. Gertrude's. JV softball, coached by Dale Harter, faces Collegiate at home on Friday, April 4. Bill King coaches the tennis Scotties, which will meet Covenant at home on April 11. |
