Marshall, Smith Once Again Dominate SMS 5K

Douglas Marshall cut his 2002 time by more than 20 seconds to win the Fifth Annual Rappahannock River Run at St. Margaret's School on Saturday, October 4. The Mathews resident covered the 5K course in 15:41 to cinch his fifth consecutive victory.

Second place went to Greg Ruckert of Stevensville (18:05) and third was captured by SMS teacher and Cross-Country Coach David Cook (18:12). Finishing fourth overall and first in the women's division was Julia Smith of Tappahannock (18:17), followed by SMS sophomore Andrea Martinez (23:27) and SMS Assistant Director of Admission Erika Slozak (24:00).

The event was coordinated by the St. Margaret's School Alumnae Association, timed by the Fredericksburg Area Running Club and sponsored by more than 40 area businesses.
