A large and vocal turnout cheered the St. Margaret’s varsity field hockey team on to a 3-0 victory against Virginia Episcopal School on Friday, September 21. The entire student body came out to witness history in the making in this, the first game played on the new St. Margaret’s athletic fields located on Sycamore Drive in Tappahannock.

Goals were scored by juniors Corbin Brooks of Millers Tavern and Sarah Keating of Frederick, MD, and senior Jillian DiMarco of Richmond. The impressive play was witnessed by both fans and Coach Laura Dusablon, who stated that “because more than half the team members are returning players, we were able to come together early this season and play remarkably well.”

Sophomore Frankie Berscak of Kitty Hawk, NC and junior Crystal Thomas of Severn, MD scored big to bring home a 2-0 victory in the Scottie’s season opener against Christchurch on September 11. The two were joined by Keating and junior Crystal Thomas of Severn, MD who also scored in last Tuesday’s game to shut out Essex 6-0.
