Head of School Margaret Broad is pleased to announce that Hannah Kessler of Washington, DC has received a 2007-2008 Outstanding Senior in French Award from the American Association of Teachers of French. This award is made annually to a graduating senior who has demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language and the many cultures where it is spoken.

“We are so proud of Hannah and all of her accomplishments,” said Broad who presented the award to Kessler at an all-school meeting on Thursday. Kessler is a four-year boarding student at St. Margaret’s who serves as student body president, crew team captain, and is a member of the National Honor Society and the Student Ambassador Society. She is also the recipient of the school’s 2006-07 Wofford College Award, presented to students in the top 10 percent of their class who have scored at least 1100 on the SAT.

Senior Hannah Kessler is the 2007-2008 recipient
of the Outstanding Senior in French Award from
the American Association of Teachers.

To receive the Outstanding Senior in French Award, recipients must have completed at least three years of French study at the time of graduation and be a non-native speaker of French. Kessler has studied French for five years and has participated in study abroad.

The AATF was founded in 1927 and has as its mission the promotion of the study of French language and French-speaking literatures and cultures at all levels.
