St. Margaret’s School graduated 28 members of the Class of 2008 on Saturday, May 31. Graduates of this class will be attending some of the nation’s top colleges, including 6 colleges in Virginia, schools in 10 additional states including Colorado, New York, and Georgia, and one school in Switzerland.
Local graduates include: Danielle Nicolle Creel (Christopher Newport University), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Creel of Dunnsville, Martha Clare Joslyn (Bridgewater College), daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E. Allen Joslyn of Tappahannock, and Elizabeth Blair Passagaluppi (Sweet Briar College), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Passagaluppi also of Tappahannock.
Graduating boarding students include Dinika Joyce Gloria Archer (University of Georgia), Willis Shepherd Blair (Sweet Briar College), Katherine Elizabeth Burnett (Washington and Lee University), Kristen Elyse Clayton-White (The George Washington University), Danielle Creque Farara (The Catholic University of America), Ann Bowdre Fortson (Wofford College), Blair Elizabeth Gurganus (Sweet Briar College), Mung Ha (Johnson & Wales University), Stephanie Leah Hanson (Virginia Commonwealth University), Jamie Lawson Hunter (Lynchburg College), and Hyun Hwa Jung (Parsons School of Design, New School University).

St. Margaret’s Board of Governors member Heather L. Wood Mantz, director of Environmental Affairs for the Virginia Port Authority and a 1987 graduate of St. Margaret’s, gave the commencement address - [watch the video]. Jill McCuan, parent of a 2004 graduate and benefactor of McCuan House on the SMS campus serves as chair of the school’s Board of Governors, and joined Head of School Margaret R. Broad in the conferring of diplomas.
