Penny Sondra Martin Housman '56 went to be with her Lord November 5, 2021. There she joined family including her beloved husband of 58 years, Fred Hunter Housman and their beloved son Fredrick Hunter Housman. Penny lived a life of love, kindness and great faith. A service celebrating a life well lived will be held Saturday the 13th at 11 am in Waynesboro, Va. The location will be graveside at Augusta Memorial Park.
At St. Margaret's School, we knew her as Mary Harrison, a member of the Class of 1972. So when we heard of her passing this week, we were saddened. But it came of no surprise to learn that she died holding the hands of her siblings and embraced in prayers and all the wonderful memories in the life of Mary Harrison.
Mary Inga Brown Robertson (Age 76), transitioned September 2nd peacefully at her home in Gainesville, VA. She was born on June 13, 1945 in Petersburg, VA but spent her childhood in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with her family.
Ann Rivers Hutcheson, 83, died on May 6, 2020 in McLean, VA. Ann Rivers was devoted to family, friends, and faith and was the quintessential southern lady. Born in Fredericksburg, VA, she was the only child of Julia Rivers Brown Payne and James Nicholas Payne. She grew up in Dahlgren, VA and graduated from St. Margaret’s School in Tappahannock, VA, before earning a degree in philosophy from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, GA in 1959.
Grace Warren Rowell Phelps Rhinesmith of Walkerton, King and Queen County, VA, died on Sunday, January 4, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 11, 1942 in Newport News, VA. She is predeceased by her parents, Arthur Warren and Grace Rowell Phelps, her sister Margaret Phelps Vaughan, and her husband of forty years, William Donald Rhinesmith.
