While academics and studying are a priority at St. Margaret's, life outside the classroom is active and fun. Students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills, join clubs according to their interests, or try something new. Some organizations require an application and others are open to all. Extended lunches and other free time allows for meetings and practices. Students always have the option to start their own clubs with a faculty sponsor.
The Art Club provides materials, instruction and support for those students who are seeking a creative outlet in addition to their academic schedule.

Community Service Groups and Opportunities
Learning how to be a contributing member of a community is one of the most important aspects of the “education for life” that SMS provides. It is our hope that students enjoy their service to others and that they develop a long-term commitment to and appreciation of service. Students have the opportunity to donate their time and enthusiasm to a variety of service projects in Tappahannock, Fredericksburg, and the Greater Richmond area. In Tappahannock, some sponsoring agencies include the public library, a local day care center, Riverside Tappahannock Hospital, and Richmond County YMCA. We offer community service opportunities on the weekends and during Minimester.
The Green Team educates the entire school community on developing environmentally conscious practices in order to preserve the environment and our future.
Musical Theater Production
Experience the thrill of being in a full-scale musical theater production. Students will have the opportunity to audition in the fall for our annual February show. A total theatrical experience will be provided for students who are cast, allowing them to develop singing, dancing, and acting techniques. The technical mechanics of play production is enhanced through participation in actual set design, set construction, creating and managing set props, lighting design, stage management and working on our backstage crews.
